| Simone Costa picked up 12 points for Portugal in their victory over Belarus|
After waiting their entire history to find a victory in the top tier of the U18 European Championship Women, the wait for a second was just 24 hours for Portugal thanks to a powerful 67-45 success against Belarus.
Buoyed by their previous success, Potugal carried their newfound vibrancy into the game and started like an express train as they raced down the tracks and into a 19-9 advantage.
They were helped by scoring the first 12 points of the game which left Belarus standing on the start-line and playing catch-up for the remainder of the night.
However, with Portugal playing so well, Belarus could barely get close and struggled to post any kind of decisive bid as they sought an escape route from their early predicament.
Unfortunately it was a familiar story as they continued to spill the ball far too frequently, committing 30 turnovers.
Any chance of a fight-back was eventually extinguished by Portugal in the second-half when they took their lead out to 60-31.
Chelsea Guimaraes led from the front for Portugal with 10 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots, whilst Simone Costa picked up a team-high 12 points.
None of the Belarus team were able to make double figures.
