Icelandic Referees Learn From Best

08 October 2013

Icelandic basketball referees were provided tips from the best when Joe Crawford from the NBA and FIBA referee Zsolt Hartyáni from Hungary graced them with their presence between the 12th and 14th September.

The duo were joined by local referee Kristinn Óskarsson in running the course which began with the coaches analysing local referees in game situations.

The following day the coaches looked back over the games from the evening previous with the officiators, offering constructive feedback to the referees.

The three coaches were then responsible for running seminars focusing on different elements of refereeing, highlighted by Joe Crawford giving a 45-minute discussion on life in the NBA and Hartyáni also offering a 45-minute insight into refereeing at EuroBasket 2013 earlier in the summer.

The course then finished with another two games of basketball, allowing the participants to put into practice what they had learned over the course of the day.
