Gaziantep Coming Back In New Year

Royal Hali Gaziantep advanced to the Last 16 with a strong 74-61 victory at Atomerömü Paks in Group B.

Terrico White paced Gaziantep with 19 points while Serkan Erdogan and Dejan Borovnjak both had 12 and Domen Lorbek chipped in 10 points in his debut with the team, which improved to 4-1.

Atomerömü were eliminated in dropping to 1-4 despite Jarrod Jones scoring 13 points and Rodney McGruder adding 12 in the loss.

Gaziantep led from start to finish, opening the game with a 9-2 lead. Atomerömü pulled to within 12-9 but the guests were up 17-13 after one quarter.

After Gaziantep increased the lead to 23-15, Atomerömü cut it to three points only to see the guests use a 13-3 surge for a 36-29 advantage at intermission.

The cushion was back up to 13 early in the third quarter and two threes by White pushed it to 15 points. Gaziantep led 57-44 after three quarters.

The guests scored the first seven points of the fourth quarter for a 64-44 lead with less than seven minutes left.

Atomerömü trimmed the gap to 68-59 with just under two minutes left but Gaziantep finished strong.
