Municipal Targoviste play-caller Florin Nini has been appointed as head coach of EuroBasket Women 2015 co-hosts Romania.

Having guided Targoviste into the EuroLeague Women play-offs last month, Nini has been rewarded for his efforts by being handed the reins of the national team.

Dan Fleseriu was at the helm last summer when Romania failed in their bid to punch a ticket for EuroBasket Women 2013, and he will step down and now work as an assistant coach to Nini.

Romania finished fourth in their five team group last year, finishing with three wins and five losses.

There will be no competitive games for Nini to oversee until Romania actually step out at the tournament itself in a little over two years.

In addition to various roles with the men's national youth teams during recent times, Nini has coached at senior level as an assistant to the men's team back in 2009.

He can also point to coaching a number of current Romanian national team players with Targoviste, and not least, the irrepressible scoring talent of marquee star, Gabriella Marginean.
