Stars Hedo Turkoglu, Ersan Ilyasova and Omer Asik headline an impressive 20-strong preliminary squad for EuroBasket 2013 that the Turkish federation made public on Wednesday.
The list of Turkey head coach Bogdan Tanjevic is an ambitious mix of old and new with the only big-name absence being that of Utah Jazz center Enes Kanter, which was however already announced in the spring.
The now 34-year-old point guard Kerem Tunceri is also not included on the list; however the veteran had not participated in last summer's Qualification Round, after an almost uninterrupted 12-year long senior international career which commenced at EuroBasket 1999.
Turkey's first get-together is on 16 July and the following day the team will fly to Bormio, in Italy, where the first stage of their training camp will take place.
The second phase will be conducted in Istanbul and Turkey will play their first round of warm-up games from 2 to 4 August in a four-nation international tournament in Slovenia, which also features the EuroBasket 2013 host country, Serbia and Latvia.
Turkey were drawn in First Round Group D at the EuroBasket and will do battle with Finland, Russia, Greece, Sweden and Italy for a top-three finish that leads to the Second Round.
