|Jantel Lavender made sure Wisla Can-Pack would not crash to a second defeat in EuroLeague Women|
A monstrous 34 points from Jantel Lavender fired Wisla Can-Pack to a 67-61 Group B success at BK Imos Brno to record a first win of the new EuroLeague Women season.
A standout performer with Schio last year, the center produced the highest score of the EuroLeague Women season so far and added 10 boards to leave head coach Stefan Svitek breathing a huge sigh of relief.
Having lost a real choker during the first week of action when felled by a buzzer-beater from Rivas Ecopolis, Svitek and his players were briefly left dreading the possibility of an unwanted déjà vu after leaving the door open for Brno.
Having always held the upper hand throughout an intriguing game, it looked to be all over when they went 62-53 ahead with a few minutes remaining.
But, Wisla didn't kill off the home team and they were left with their nerves jangling when Brno subsequently scored eight consecutive points to ensure the game went right down to the wire.
Alena Hanusova again posed the main threat for the Czechs and whilst she scored 19 points, she couldn't make the shot to tie the scores with 14 seconds left.
It handed Wisla the chance to win the game from the free-throw line and they took it with both hands.
Latvian center Zane Tamane posted a nice efficient cameo of 10 points and eight rebounds for Wisla.
