A first-quarter blitz has kept Lithuania in the hunt for a quarter-final position at the Dadu U16 European Championship Men as the hosts waltzed past Greece 75-56.

The loss now resigns Greece to playing off in the classification games for ninth to 12th place.

With their tournament on the brink, Lithuania came out firing, racing out to a 28-4 lead within the first seven-and-a-half minutes, forcing Manos Manouselis to call an earlier-than-expected time out.

The timeout halted the onslaught as Lithuania failed to pick up any more points in the frame.

Following a much more balanced second-quarter, Greece were trailing by 18 at the half.

Antanas Krimelis nearly outscored the entire Greek team in the first half, registering 22 points whilst the Greeks collectively managed 23.

However, foul problems limited Krimelis' playing time in the second frame, with the small forward only adding a further five points to his first-half effort.

Greece remained competitive in the second half but the early setback could not be overcome.

Stepping into a starting role, Domantas Sabonis picked up a 13-point, 12-rebound double-double for Lithuania whilst Tautvydas Paliukenas also added 12 points.

For Greece, Vasileios Toliopoulos was a shining light off the bench with 14 points.
