When Branislav Djekic pulled down an offensive rebound that secured Serbia's gold medal in the 2007 European U16 Championship, he probably wasn't aware that he was writing history.

In a period in time when the Serbia senior team is struggling to persuade its talented individuals to wear its colours in EuroBasket the youth generations prove that Serbia remains European basketball’s driving force.

I'm very happy that we made it to EuroBasket last year.

It was very exiting for all of us - you could not understand what was going on in the locker room after we had our final game last year against Greece at home. Champagne and cake everywhere! 

July 16 is an important date in Sports History.

Some remember it as the day the 1950 World Cup finals in Brazil drew the largest crowd in sports history, nearly 200,000 fans.

The buzzer sounded one last time. Then it was over. The regular season that is. We finished up last Saturday in Braunschweig and will head into the play-offs as the #1 seed where we will face the eight-seeded Artland Dragons.

Finally, having put behind us the prelude (lasting eight months!) we are more than ready for the play-offs. Before talking a little bit about the teams and match-ups I would like to share a few thoughts on the season and the state of the league.

Hello, let me introduce myself…

My name is Michelle Maslowski and I am a 28 year old American who has made a career playing professional basketball in Europe for the past 5 years.  I have played in the countries of Luxembourg, Germany and France, and also have 3 years of FIBA EuroCup experience.

We could not have had better start in 2007 because we won the Queen’s Cup.

So we are into a New Year.

But with but Joventut Badalona, the same challenges exist.

Last week I attended the draw for EuroBasket Women 2007. A number of my colleagues from FIBA Europe and I travelled to Chieti for this important event.

Of course we brought our Year of Women's Basketball promotional materials to give some hot pink colour to the event.
