|Joris Condijts recieves his award for services to youth basketball|
Joris Condijts has been awarded by FIBA Europe for his contribution to youth basketball.
At a recent ceremony, the Belgian native was presented with a plaque by FIBA Europe Youth Commission president Aris Zois, acknowledging the 35-year dedication that Mr Condijts has given to running the annual European Tournament of Mini-Basketball in Brussels, Belgium.
The tournament invites U14 teams from around the world to come and compete against their peers.
Since its inception the tournament has been well-received with the podium more often than not shared by teams representing three different nations.
It has also proved an important launch pad for future talents of the men's game with a number of the players competing in Belgium appearing in the youth colours of their respective countries in the following years.
"Condijts has been an inspiration for all of us who are involved in the development of youth basketball," said Zois. "His enthusiasm and dedication to basketball is unprecedented and I believe this award will go some way to acknowledging this."
