|Angela Salvadores can expect to represent Spain at the FIBA U17 World Championship for Women|
The draw for the 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship for Women was held in Bratislava, Slovak Republic on Wednesday, ahead of this summer's tournament that will take place from 28 June to 6 July.
FIBA Europe will be represented at the 16-team tournament by Czech Republic, Hungary, Spain, Italy, Slovak Republic and France - the biggest representation from any of the five FIBA continental zones.
The teams are divided into four groups of four teams for the Preliminary Round, which is played in a standard round-robin format.
Group A: Czech Republic, Canada, Hungary, Korea
Group B: Brazil, Spain, Italy, Egypt
Group C: Australia, Mexico, Slovak Republic, Japan
Group D: USA, Mali, France, China
Slovak Republic legends Stanislav Kropilak, Beata Renertova, Richard Petruska and Miroslav Rehak, the most experienced Slovak coach, assisted in the draw.
The FIBA U17 World Championship for Women is where the stars of tomorrow are born.
This will be the third edition of the tournament, and the third time it will take place in Europe. In 2010, France were runners-up to USA on home soil and two years later in the Netherlands, it was the turn of Spain to earn the bridesmaid role next to USA.
Following on from the success and interest in the first two U17 women's events, this tournament will mark the first time that there will be a 16-team field - the same competition format as the FIBA U19 World Championship for Women.
