The official logo for the Year of Women’s Basketball will be unveiled this Tuesday 7 March in Budapest, Hungary in the lead-up to the first-ever EuroLeague Women All-Star Day.
The Year of Women’s Basketball is prestigious initiative by FIBA Europe and its member federations to bring focus to women’s basketball in order to improve recognition and respect for the sport in Europe and all female participants in the game.
The logo will be launched at the Hotel Stadion in Budapest during a media lunch and will be presented to the public for the first time during a basketball game on Wednesday, 8 March at the All-Star game in Pecs.
Ilona Korstin, a player for Samara and the Russian national team, was recently chosen as the face of the project and will officially unveil the logo at both the media lunch and the All-Star game.
“We are very excited about everything that will take place in Hungary,” said Esther Wender, project manager for the Year of Women’s Basketball.
“Much work and effort has gone in to preparing the launch of the Year of Women’s Basketball and the initial feedback has been very positive. This is only the beginning of our sustained effort to promote women’s basketball during the next 18 months.”
