Player Of The Year Announcements Begin Next Week

FIBA Europe will honor the best of European basketball starting next week with the announcement of the winners of the FIBA Europe Player of the Year awards.

On Monday 8th February the winners of the Young Women's Player of the Year Award will be announced, followed by the Young Men's Player of the Year award on the 10th.

Both selections are made from a group of nominees born in 1989 or earlier.

Last year Ricky Rubio of Spain won the award for the second straight year, while Gintare Petronyte won the young women's award.

Then on Friday 12th February the winners of the FIBA Europe Women's Player of the Year will be released.

The winner of the men's award will be announced on Monday 15th February.

Last year the Men's Player of the Year Award was captured by Pau Gasol of Spain while Maria Stepanova of Russia won the women's award.

The winners were selected through a public and an expert panel vote.
