Saturday afternoon was a big day for basketball in Europe as the draw for the Qualifying Rounds of EuroBasket and EuroBasket Women 2011 took place, but first on the agenda would be the draw for the 2010 FIBA Europe Youth Competitions to take place across Europe this coming summer.
211 youth teams will compete in FIBA Europe Youth Competitions across six age categories and three divisions.
"Today we have established and consolidated an impressive youth development programme, with the regular, yearly participation of practically all of our member federations," commented FIBA Europe President George Vassilakopoulos at a specch to open the draw.
"The great interest in these competitions is shown by your presence here today."
"It is unbelievable the effort and the sacrifice being made by federations in this difficult financial climate to continue their dedication to youth basketball." added Secretary General Nar Zanolin.
FIBA Europe youth competitions will be hosted by 12 different nations across the continent this summer.
