|FIBA Europe President Olafur Rafnsson, Treasurer Jan Berteling and Secretary General Nar Zanolin|
The development and promotion of the sport of basketball throughout Europe are at the core of the FIBA Europe mission statement, but of course fulfilling these objectives would be impossible without effective financial administration.
This is why the work of the FIBA Europe Finance Commission, whose aim is to assist the Treasurer and the Secretary General in their responsibilities, is so important.
Thursday saw the first meeting of the Commission, with FIBA Europe President Olafur Rafnsson, Secretary General Nar Zanolin and the President of the Finance Commission and Treasurer Jan Berteling welcoming existing and the several new members of the Commission at the FIBA Europe offices in Munich.
A detailed presentation of the FIBA Europe accounts was followed by a discussion on the budget and questions by the Commission members, to conclude the highly productive first meeting.
The next meeting of the Commission is on 14 February 2011.
