This year's EuroLeague Women Draw and General Assembly taking place in Munich, Germany at the weekend will mark a new era for a competition that has consistently proven to be the best of its kind in the world.
As the 2010-2011 season gets ready to kick off in October FIBA Europe have unveiled a new EuroLeague Women logo that's unique visuals combine both the competitions ultimate prize and the natural feminine qualities of its participants.
"EuroLeague Women has for many years now been the premier women's club competition in the world," commented FIBA Europe President Olafur Rafnsson.
"We felt that it deserved a logo that reflects not only the on-court attributes that make it special, but also set it apart from men's competitions."
Designed in cooperation with Italian firm Oiko Service, the logo uses a palette of pink and black and incorporates the image of a basketball, as well as that of the EuroLeague Women trophy and the feminine form.
"The goal was to set EuroLeague Women apart and to continue to work towards giving it a very unique identity," said FIBA Europe Secretary General Nar Zanolin.
"A logo like this helps to turn EuroLeague Women into not just a competition but a brand, and makes it easier for us to promote it across Europe and the world."
