FIBA Europe’s continuing commitment to growing the game of women’s basketball will be on display this week in Slovenia at a camp for under-15 girls meant to prepare them for the rigors of tough international competition.

The camp, which will feature two players and a coach from nearly every FIBA Europe member country, will take place in Postojna, Slovenia where some of the best players in Europe have gone to learn and improve their game over the years.

Working in cooperation with the Slovenian Basketball Federation, the First FIBA Europe International Basketball Camp for Under-15 Girls will feature clinics designed to improve play on the court and handle the pressures and demands of performance basketball off of it.

Players will work on basketball basics like shooting, passing and rebounding but will also be addressed by doctors and other officials about issues ranging from nutrition and properly treating injuries to balancing basketball with the rest of your life.

"This camp provides a fantastic opportunity for players and coaches from all over Europe to work together side by side, share ideas and learn from each other," said FIBA Europe Secretary General Nar Zanolin.

"The girls, identified as some of the best prospects for the future, will be exposed to a real performance environment," commented FIBA Europe Women's Coordinator Radmila Turner.

"They will train under the guidance of well recognized coaches and receive tips from some top professional players."

The coaches attending the camp will also attend a coaching clinic focusing on the development of the young player with special attention on the fundamental skills and mental preparation of the female players.

But the best part of the camp will, of course, be the opportunity to meet new friends from all over Europe and create contacts for the future.
