Luxembourg Honours Special Olympians With VIP Game

29 November 2007

On the occasion of the Second Special Olympics European Basketball Week, Special Olympics Luxembourg-together with the Luxembourg Basketball Federation-organised the Fourth annual VIP Game in the newly opened Reha-Center in Luxembourg City.
As in previous years a team composed of celebrities like former FLBB president Claude Wiseler, Minister for Health Mars di Bartolomeo, several members of Parliament, sponsors of the Federation and presidents of local clubs matched up against the team of Special Olympians.

This Unified Special Olympics team, which has participated since 2001 in the official Cadet Championship of the Basketball Federation and won the Silver Medal at the World Games in Shanghai, was too strong for the celebrities and won the game by a wide margin.

All the Special Olympians participating scored in the game and had great fun.
The strong performance was no doubt due to solid preparation. A special practice was held prior to the game in which Luxembourg national team head coach Hermann Paar worked with the Special Olympians.
The game was enjoyed by participants and others on hand, with everybody promising to be part of the game again next year.
