Austria was the place to be over Easter for young basketball enthusiasts as the 17th Annual "Basketball Wien" was held in Vienna.
A record-breaking 5,000 players from 470 teams participated in what is the biggest youth basketball tournament in Europe.
12 school classrooms were used to house the players, while 33 courts were needed for all the games, over 1,000 in total.
As well as the tournaments, which were held in the U12 to U20 categories for boys and girls, a dunk contest was organised at the Wiener Stadthalle.
"Basketball Wien 2007 was a milestone in the history of our event. The record number of 470 teams brought an incredible 5,000 athletes to Vienna and outscored everything that happened before," said organiser Peter Krappel.
"For one week Basketball-Europe had its’ eye on Vienna. The Organizers are proud of the fact, that for many years now “Basketball Wien” draws huge numbers of participants to the tournament and has established itself as a fixed star in the European basketball scene.”
