Zvika Sherf was all smiles after Israel overcame the danger of Great Britain to record their first victory in the Qualifying Round of EuroBasket 2009. The Israeli coach was full of praise for his team's opponents speaking to One TV's Amir Levy after the game.

Year after year, the Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia has come close to booking a place at the EuroBasket only to fall short.

Now, the Balkan country have their best-ever chance of reaching next year's Final Round in Poland after shooting to the top of Group B in Division A with Saturday's 80-78 home win over Latvia.

What a Saturday evening that was... Israel, Lithuania, Serbia and Hungary added their names to the nine team-roster qualified for EuroBasket 2009 in Latvia. Turkey, Poland, France, Slovakia and Greece had already secured their qualifications.

The most exciting situation was between Ukraine and Hungary. Fegyverneky and her team-mates finally booked the last ticket, as the best third place team.

FIBA Europe has announced the procedure for the EuroChallenge draw, which will take place in Berlin, Germany, on Tuesday.

A total of 32 clubs will enter Qualifying Round I. Sixteen clubs are seeded, according to their results in previous FIBA Europe competitions, in their national championships and their country coefficient and they will not be drawn against each other.

Based on their results in FIBA Europe competitions eight clubs have qualified directly for the regular season:

The 32 clubs that will enter Qualifying Round I are separated in two groups, one of seeded clubs and one of unseeded clubs.

In the second qualifying round of EuroChallenge the clubs will be drawn directly.

The draws of the three pan-European club competitions: Euroleague Basketball, EuroCup and EuroChallenge, will start at 12 noon, at Berlin's Postbahnhof.
