| 08 February 2005 Eurobasket 2005 Dates Amended The FIBA Europe Club Competitions Commission and Executive Committee met on Monday in Munich, Germany.
Among the topics on the agenda were a proposed date change to Eurobasket 2005 and FIBA Europe’s 2005/2006 club competitions.
Eurobasket 2005
Due to requests from various television broadcasters who have purchased the rights to Eurobasket 2005, the competition will begin on 16th September, one day later than orginally planned.
Eurobasket 2005 will be played from 16th – 25th September 2005 in Serbia & Montenegro. The full schedule of the competition can be found here.
It was also decided that FIBA Europe will register and trademark the competition names Eurobasket and Eurobasket Women.
European Club Competitions
The Commission also discussed the structure and system for FIBA Europe’s 2005/2006 club competitions
In principle, it was agreed that FIBA Europe would administer one men’s club competition for 32 clubs. The name and competition system are yet to be determined.
In addition, it was decided that the EuroLeague Women would be reduced from 21 to 16 participants. |
