BC Khimik claimed top spot in the Gomelsky Memorial Tournament in Yuzhny with an 81-76 win over UNICS Kazan on Friday.
Khimik took the lead in the second quarter and stayed ahead until a Yahor Meshcharakou three-pointer put UNICS in front with just 20 seconds left in the contest.
However, Khimik recovered to retake the lead and Sasha Bratic's crucial basket secured victory for the Yuzhny-based team.
Bratic, the Serbian forward, was the top-scorer for the winners,pouring in 20 points and grabbing eight rebounds.
Krzysztof Lavrinovic scored a game-high 22 points for Unics, and also claimed nine boards.
"I am happy beating such a good team," Khimik coach Zvezdan Mitrovic said on basket.com.ua.
"My team played very well. I'm especially satisfied with the defense."
Elsewhere, Dynamo Moscow had no problem seeing off BC Kyiv 87-69.
Leonid Yaylo had 14 points for Kyiv while Boyan Popovic poured in 15 points for Dynamo.
