De Forge Silenced In Ros Casares Win

Ros Casares were again able to limit the threat of Wisla Can-Pack ace Anna De Forge to book their place in the quarter-finals of the EuroLeague Women.

Although De Forge still managed to score a game-high 21 points in the opening meeting between the two sides on Tuesday, Ros Casares felt they had handled the former WNBA star well in their 80-72 win.

De Forge looked set to wreak her revenge in Game Two on Friday though, pouring in 15 points and four rebounds in the first half alone to help Wisla into a 35-31 lead.

But Ros Casares put the shackles on the 30-year-old American in the second half, and she could add only three more points and two rebounds as the Spanish side ran out 67-57 winners in Poland.

Wisla trailed by eight points early on but, paced by the impressive De Forge, hit back to lead by six at 43-37 midway through the third period.

At that stage it looked as though the Polish side were set to level the series up at one apiece and send the tie to a winner-takes-all third match.

However, Ros Casares were not ready to give in just yet and an Elena Tornikidou jump shot sparked a 12-1 run that saw the Spanish side take
control at 49-44.

That proved to be the game breaker for Ros Casares as Wisla would never get closer than three points for the remainder of the game.

Three players stood out for the victors, with DeLisha Milton pouring in 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, Allison Feaster Strong adding 16 points, three rebounds and two assists, while Elisa Aguilar contributed 15 points, four rebounds and four assists.

For Wisla, De Forge led all scorers with her 18-point haul, while Dominique Canty added 13 points, four rebounds and six assists.
