BC Kyiv knocked down Budivelnyk with fantastic comeback in the third quarter to produce 88-81 win in Kyiv derby.
Despite the bad start Budivelnyk controlled the game till the end of the first half. The most titled Ukrainian club used three-pointers to take a 42-36 lead.
Still, after the break Kyiv made decisive 18-0 run. No wonder that LaMarr Greer became the leader for the EuroCup side.
Nevertheless, brave Budivelnyk seemed to recover and hardly failed to tie the game. But finally they left the court defeated.
"We needed that win but I felt like we could lose, so I had to do something to save the game." said Greer, who scored 22 points for BC Kyiv.
"I think this championship will be tough for us because almost all the teams increased their level. However, I came here to win nothing but the gold."
Budivelnyk's coach Yevhen Murzin was unhappy with the way his team played after half-time.
"I asked my players to be careful in the third quarter but they failed to follow my advice," he said.
Azovmash and Khimki had no problem with their rivals. The Mariupol side beat MBC Odesa 99-79, while Yuzhny's team defeated Krivbasbasket 103-64. |
