A three-headed monster in the shape of Kelvin Gibbs, Nikita Shabalkin and Omar Cook proved too much for hosts Ural Great as CSK VVS Samara won impressively on the road in the Russian Superleague on Friday.

Gibbs had 19 points, while Shabalkin and Cook poured in 17 and 16, respectively, as Samara won 75-64.

Ural Great, who will play in the EuroCup, led 14-13 when a Shabalkin basket and three-ball by Gennadiy Zelenskiy started a 9-1 run for Samara at the end of the first quarter which gave them a 22-15 lead.

Stanislav Makshantsev pulled Ural Great level at 47-47 early in the second half, but Cook replied with a three-pointer as Samara went back in front for good.

His shot from the arc at the end of the third lifted them into a 56-49 advantage and they never looked back.

Cook, who played for Dexia in the EuroCup last season before moving to Russia, finished four of nine from three-point range.

Lokomotiv Rostov were another EuroCup side in action on Friday and they led 68-58 midway through the fourth quarter but scored just four points the rest of the way as they lost 74-72 to Spartak St Petersburg.

Spartak's Pavel Sergeev's basket at the end were the final two points of the game.

Greece international center Lazaros Papadopoulos poured in 15 points for Dynamo Moscow in their 75-60 triumph over University-Ugra Surgut.
