Azovmash Still Positive Despite Setback

Few thought that Azovmash would defeat Virtus Bologna on Friday to earn a place in the finals.

And many thought that Girona would prevail in easy fashion in the title game.

Bajramovic scored 15 in the title game.
Therefore, despite a 79-72 setback in the finals, Azovmash can still leave Spain feeling positive about what they accomplished.

“In basketball, anything is possible,” said Azovmash big man Kenan Bajramovic.

“After out a one-point victory on Friday, we played this game without any fear. We came close but luck was not on our side.”

Losing to a strong Girona side is also no reason for the club to hold their heads down.

“Girona have 11 players who can play and they prepared better than us,” said Bajramovic.

“Still we can leave here feeling proud of the way we played.”

Had Azovmash prevailed, it would have marked the first time a Ukrainian club had won a European club competition.

“We re-wrote the history books of Azovmash basketball,” said Ricardo Powell.

“We can leave here with a good feeling knowing what we accomplished.”
