23 January 2007

Azovmash and BC Kyiv continued their winning ways in the Ukrainian Superliga over the weekend.

Azovmash posted a 98-78 triumph over BC Odesa, though they had to overcome strong resistance from their opponents in the first half.

Kenan Bajramovic notched 21 points and eight rebounds while Panagiotis Liadelis scored 19 for Mariupol.

Ukraine international Serhiy Lishchuk sustained an elbow injury but should be fit for Azovmash's Group J match with ASK Riga on this evening.

Elsewhere, Kyiv beat Budivelnyk 70-66 in a tight city derby.

Oleksiy Pecherov's three-pointer gave his side what proved to be a decisive 68-64 advantage with 1:30 to go. Milan Dozet scored 22 points and LaMarr Greer 18 for the victors.

Khimik suffered second consecutive defeat falling 73-95 to Krivabasbasket, Yaroslav Zubritsky pouring in 16 points.

That virtually means the end of the first-place dreams for Zvezdan Mitrovic's side in the Superliga.
