Paulauskas Quits As Dynamo Moscow Region Coach

Dynamo Moscow Region coach Rutjanis Paulauskas has resigned in the wake of Saturday's 63-52 home defeat to fellow EuroCup side Lokomotiv Rostov in the Russian Superleague.

The setback followed last week's EuroCup upset against ASK Riga, a defeat which left the Russian outfit with two wins and two defeats in Round II of the European competition.

Paulauskas told the club's official website: "I'd like to wish the club good luck and to thank the board of the club, and the players for their trust and support during the last one and a half years.

"I worked fanatically and it's a pity that everything depends on results.

"Sometimes we didn't have enough luck and confidence in the decisive moments of games. Dynamo need a coach who will shake up the team.

"I like all the players who played for the club under my guidance."

Paulauskas' assistant, Dmitri Shakulin, has taken over.

Meanwhile, Lithuanian player Audrius Giedraitis has left the team by mutual consent.

Giedraitis, a 1.96m guard, played in 10 EuroCup games with the Moscow Region outfit and averaged 5.8 points and 1.4 rebounds.
