Riga Prevail Over Nymburk

ASK Riga emerged 93-87 victors over hosts CEZ Nymburk in a EuroCup Group F fixture on Wednesday.

The Latvian side opened up a 14-point first half lead courtesy of a 20-8 run and would never trail afterwards.

Sandis Valters scored eight of his 17 points during the spurt.

Nymburk responded and was able to cut the deficit to four going to the half and stayed within striking distance in the second half, but never could get over the hump.

Nymburk's Ladislav Sokolovsky drained a three-pointer with 4:53 to play in the fourth to cut the deficit to two, 75-73.

But a jumper from Raitis Grafs followed by a three-pointer from Sandis Buskevics opened up the lead  to seven as Riga held on for the win.

Arnis Vecvagars top scored for ASK with 20 points. He was one of six players to tally double-digits for the victors.

Radoslav Rancik had an outstanding match in a losing cause as he poured in 22 points as well as hauling down 11 rebounds for the hosts.

Sokolovsky added 20 while Goran Savanovic (19), Guillermo Diaz (13) and Walker Russell (12) also reached double digits.
