Hungary: MiZo Fightback Delights Ratgeber

05 February 2007

MiZo Pecs coach Laszlo Ratgeber hailed his side after they came from 12 points down to record a stunning 72-56 win over Gambrinus Sika Brno to level their EuroLeague Women Eighth-Final play-off at 1-1.

Defending champions Gambrinus thumped MiZo Pecs 80-47 in Game One and looked for an equally comfortable victory as they raced into a 47-35 lead just after half-time.

We will still fight despite Brno having home advantage in the third game.

But a Nora Bujdoso three-pointer sparked a sensational comeback from MiZo Pecs, who outscored their opponents 28-5 in the final quarter.

Ratgeber said: "Brno are a quality opponent. We showed great heart today when Brno had a 12-point advantage.

"Our fans helped us today and encouraged our players into producing a great performance.

"We will still fight despite Brno having home advantage in the third game."

Gambrinus coach Jan Bobrovsky said: "We lost the game because we only scored 14 points in second half.

"We started well but we did not control the game after that.

"We stopped playing our style of basketball when we had a 12-point advantage.

"Our co-operation became very poor and all the players only wanted to play one-on-one.

"I believe we will utilise home advantage in the third game."
