| Monclar's team were ahead for most of the game but they could not shake off the hosts, who came close to pulling off a superb comeback win.
"We made the break several times in the match but we were never able to completely knock them out," admitted Monclar.
"But at least we got our first victory of 2007. It's true that in the first half, we did not shoot well but on the other hand, we did defend well.
"After that we saw a great basketball match."
Kalev, who have a 0-3 record in the group, will be proud of the way they fought back after looking down and out.
With 2:58 left in the third quarter, they were 50-41 down, but they mounted a tremendous recovery on the back of Travis Reed's game-high 18 points.
However, Lux, who finished with a team-high haul of 17 points and five rebounds, held his nerve at the end.
The American center had assistance from Senegal forward Maleye Ndoye (14 points) and French guard Abdoulaye Mbaye (15 points).
