Dijon upset the odds with a nailbiting 85-84 victory over joint Pro A leaders Roanne to ensure the battle at the top of the table remains a tight affair.
The EuroCup contenders were trailing 29-22 at the end of the first quarter but fought back to hold a 46-43 lead at half-time.
Roanne, led by Aaron Hunter, again reversed the scores in the third period but Dijon refused to drop their heads and a valiant battle in the final 10 minutes saw them edge the game by the narrowest of margins.
Senegalese forward Malaye Ndoye led all scorers with 24 points while T.J. Lux and Terrance Johnson added 18 apiece for the victors.
Hunter finished with 22 points for Roanne but it proved in vain. They remain in a three-way tie for the lead with Nancy and Chalon/Saone, who also lost their 13th round games on Saturday.
Nancy were edged 69-66 in another close encounter at Paris while Chalon/Saone were comprehensively outplayed by an Orleans side which ran out 98-57 winners.
Adecco ASVEL bounced back from their midweek EuroCup defeat against DTL EKA AEL Lemesos with a 91-81 success over Le Havre.
Chevon Troutman and Rowan Barrett scored 27 and 26 points, respectively, for the victors to move ASVEL just two points behind the leading trio.
In other games, Reims continue to prop up the standings following a 63- 54 loss to Clermont, Strasbourg overcame Bourg 70-66 and Hyeres- Toulon fell to a 68-63 defeat at the hands of Cholet. |
