Dijon Hold On

Dijon Basket clung on to win a thrilling Group A encounter at bottom side Asesoft Ploiesti 77-75 on Tuesday.

It was nip and tuck all the way as both sides struggled take control and the visitors led by just one point at the end of the first quarter.

A three-pointer from Levente Szijarto established a four-point lead for the hosts in the second quarter but Oliver Romain and Maleye Ndoye were on hand to ensure the scores were level at half-time.

The Romanians threatened to pull away in the third, but Laurent Sciarra bagged a three-pointer for the visitors and a run of six points without reply put Dijon into a seven-point lead at 57-50.

The hosts roared back, scoring eight unanswered points at one stage to establish a 72-71 lead with just over a minute to play.

But two three-pointers from Sciarra helped the visitors surge into the lead, and they held on for a tense victory.
