Lemesos Turn On Style In Second-Half Rout Of ASVEL

29 November 2006

DTL EKA AEL Lemesos proved last week they were for real when upsetting previously unbeaten and then Italian league leaders  Virtus Bologna.

On Wednesday, they reminded everyone once again of how good the basketball is in Cyprus with an 84-58 triumph over French giants Adecco ASVEL.

Michael King (DTL EKA AEL Lemesos)

Trailing 33-30 at half-time, Igors Miglinieks' men returned to the court spitting fire and stormed to victory.

Michael King had 22 points to pace the Cypriot team, which is now 3-1 in the EuroCup and level with Virtus in Group H.

ASVEL have dropped to 2-2.

King hit a three-pointer at the start of the third quarter to start an 11-2 run that put Lemesos in command for good.

Laurent Foirest restored a two-point advantage for ASVEL, however, Ryan Randle tied the game on Lemesos' next possession, and three-pointers followed from both Georgios Palalas and King.

Lemesos used that positive start to the second half as a launchpad for victory, blowing out their opponents in the fourth quarter when they outscored them 31-11.

King was incredible from the arc, making six of his seven attempts (85.7%).

Palalas was three of four (75%) from three-point range, while Lemesos as a team hit a hugely impressive 13 of 20 (65%).

Their three-point shooting was in fact better than their free throw shooting, with the club 17 of 27 (63%).

Chevon Stephen Troutman had 15 points and seven rebounds for ASVEL.
