Gravelines-Dunkerque have announced the signing of French international centre Jerome Schmitt from Bourg-en-Bresse.

The 25-year-old, who won bronze with France at EuroBasket 2005 but was not called up by coach Claude Bergeaud for this year’s FIBA World Championship, has signed a two-year contract with an option for a further season.

Schmitt averaged 10.7 points and 6.1 rebounds per match last season as Bourg finished 12th in LNB Pro A.

Gravelines finished sixth in the regular season in 2006 before suffering a premature exit in the play-off quarter-finals against Strasbourg.

The French club have also acquired the services of 26-year-old Cholet small forward David Gautier for two seasons.

Gautier returns to the club he served between 2001 and 2004.
