| 09.12.2006 By PA Sport BCM Gravelines may have had their hopes of progression in the EuroCup dented in midweek, but it was a different story in France's Pro A league a few days later.
BCM put to bed Tuesday's devastating last-gasp 86-83 defeat to BC Siauliai and returned to the court to see off Bourg-en-Bresse 83-62 with a powerful performance on Friday night.
Uche Nsonwu-Amadi was the star of the show for the hosts, pouring in 23 points and collecting six rebounds in a game BCM had all but wrapped up by half-time.
Having taken a 19-14 lead into the second quarter, they had then stretched that to 43-31 by the half-time hooter.
Bourg managed to close the gap slightly over the next 10 minutes (57-47) but the final quarter belonged to BCM, who ended up easing to victory.
Nsonwu-Amadi was assisted in the scoring stakes by Paccelis Morlende (14 points) and Jerome Schmitt (12 points and six rebounds).
Rich Melzer had 13 points in a losing cause for Bourg.
The win lifts Gravelines up to seventh in the Pro A standings, although they have played a game more than the rest of their rivals at the top of the table.
Their EuroCup status is hanging by a thread after the defeat to Siauliai.
They are third in their group with just one match to play - a home tie against pool leaders Akasvayu Girona on Wednesday. Only the top two qualify. |
