VidiVici Bologna climbed to second place in the Lega Basket standings after a stunning fourth-quarter performance ensured a 94-75 victory over lowly TDShop.it Livorno.

Tied 65-65 heading into the final period, the EuroCup semi-finalists limited their opponents to just 10 points as the Bologna outfit poured in 29 in a mesmerising passage of play.

American Travis Best top scored for 16-7 Bologna with 20 points, while fellow playmaker Vlado Ilievski was red hot from beyond the charity stripe, pouring in four of six (66.7%) three-pointers on his way to an 18-point haul.

Paul McPherson bagged 18 points and pulled down six rebounds in a losing cause for rock-bottom Livorno (5-18).

Bologna pulled clear in second after Armani Jeans Milano slipped up against 12th-placed Angelico Biella.

Poor shooting did the damage to Milano, with Danilo Gallinari top scoring with just 12 for the capital club as they succumbed to a meek 79-59 defeat.

Erik Daniels led the way for Angelico with 20 points, while also claiming a game-high 13 rebounds.

Leaders Montepaschi Siena (19-4) stay clear at the summit despite slipping to a 84-82 defeat against fifth-placed Lottomatica Roma.

Joseph Forte and Rimantas Kaukenas were in inspired form for Siena, pouring in 27 and 26 points respectively, but they received little support from the rest of their team.

Roma, meanwhile, benefited from a more balanced attack, with David Hawkins' 25 points leading four players in double figures.

Ognjen Askrabic dominated the boards, pulling down 12 rebounds as Roma improved to 14-9.

Elsewhere, Eldo Napoli slipped to a 80-69 defeat at Climamio Bologna, Whirlpool Varese defeated second-bottom Bipop Carire R.Emilia 78-71, while Upea Capo d'Orlando slipped to a narrow 67-63 defeat against Tisettanta Cantu.

Finally, Legea Scafati thumped Premiata Montegranaro 106-89 and Snaidero Cucine Udine dished out a similar hammering to Air Avellino, 105-84.
