It was a tale of two Czech teams in the EuroLeague Women on Wednesday night as struggling USK Praja lost for the seventh time while juggernauts Gambrinus Sika Brno prevailed for the seventh.

Praha were unable to build on last week's triumph over Dexia Namur and crashed to a 71-60 defeat against Ros Casares.

Lubor Blazek's team fell behind 24-10 in the first quarter and had to play catch-up the rest of the way.

Tereza Brantlova, the USK playmaker, told www.basket.idnes.cz: "We had a big problem trying to beat the very good defence of Valencia.

"They were aggressive and we missed many shots because of that. We played a bit better in the second half but it wasn't going to be enough. We had couple of good moments in this part of the game but it is not enough.

Valencia played well for the entire game."

A 7-1 record is what Gambrinus boast after their thrilling 74-69 triumph at Famila Schio.

Gambrinus coach Jan Bobrovsky was not all smiles after, however.

"The game was very hard - mostly from Italian side," Bobrovsky said.

"We prepared for a style like that but Schio did well thanks to benevolent referees ... I am very happy that we won despite that."

One player who was not flustered by the tough-as-nails defending by Famila was Slovakian international Zuzana Zirkova, who had 17 points to lead her side.

"Our best players were Zirkova and (Hana) Machova today," Bobrovsky said.

"They have done a lot of work. (Delisha) Milton had problems with the hard defence of Schio when referees did not see their fouls on her."
