EuroBasket Women had highs and lows for German coach Imre Szittya.
The high was a trip to the qualifying round where they upset the Czech Republic. The low was failing to follow up on the conquest and crashing out with losses to Turkey and eventual semi-finalists Latvia.
But with the groups set for qualifying ahead of EuroBasket Women 2009 in Latvia coach took 24 seconds with FIBA Europe to give us a look at his life on and off the basketball court.
FIBA Europe: Hello Coach Szittya. What's the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?
Szittya: Well, I take care of whatever needs to be done. But I try to jog an hour every morning.
FIBA Europe: The US presidential election is coming up. Who would you vote for and why if you could: Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama or John McCain?
Szittya: Obama - because I think somehting new has to come around.
FIBA Europe: What's been the best book you've read recently?
Szittya: Wow, what great questions. Hmm, I would have to say Cinnamon Shops by (Polish author) Bruno Schulz.
FIBA Europe: Which country has the best beer? Germany, Belgium or Great Britain?
Szittya: Without a doubt, Germany.
FIBA Europe: What would you say was your most embarrassing moment on the court?
Szittya: One time my team had a sure win and were leading by 20 points in the second half, and we lost by one point in the last second. That was hard.
FIBA Europe: Okay, last question. What music do you like to listen to?
Szittya: I like things from the 1960s, 70s and 80s. The Beatles, ABBA, Jethro Tull. Basically the music of my childhood. I can't really do much with all this hip-hop. But you have to respect the young players. The Beatles and all the other bands for me were not the music of my parents. So you can't say anything about it
