FIBA Europe has announced the seedings for the draws of the Eurobasket 2011 and EuroBasket Women 2011 Qualifying Rounds and the Youth European Championships 2010, which will take place in Freising, Germany on Saturday, 16th January. According to FIBA Europe regulations the seeding method for the draw is based on the results of the most recent FIBA Europe official competitions, with the last tournament being the most important. A total of 285 teams in 20 FIBA Europe competitions will enter the draw, to be held at Freising's Marriott Hotel, near Munich and will commence at 2 p.m. local time. EuroBasket 2011 will take place in Lithuania while EuroBasket Women 2011 will be held in Poland. EuroBasket 2011 Division A Qualifying Round The European participants in this year's FIBA World Championship in Turkey, qualify directly for the Final Round of EuroBasket 2011: Spain, Serbia, Greece, Slovenia, Croatia, France, Turkey, Russia, Germany and EuroBasket 2011 hosts Lithuania (articles 30 and 31 of the FIBA Europe regulations). Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Finland, F.Y.R.O.M, Georgia, Great Britain, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Montenegro, Poland, Portugal and Ukraine will contest the EuroBasket 2011 Qualifying Round. The 15 teams will be divided into three (3) groups of five (5) teams and will play home and away games. The teams placed first in each group and the two best second placed teams, will qualify for the Final Round of EuroBasket 2011 directly. The ten teams which do not qualify will play in the Additional Qualification/Relegation Round. The first six teams according to the ranking will play in two groups of three for one spot in the Final Round. The four last placed teams will play in one group for two Relegation spots in Division B. The games of the Qualifying Round will be played on 2nd, 5th, 8th, 11th, 14th, 17th, 20th, 23rd, 26th and 29th August 2010. EuroBasket 2011 Division B Qualifying Round
Albania, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Romania, Slovak Republic, Sweden and Switzerland will participate in the Division B Qualifying Round. The 13 teams will be divided into one (1) group of 5 teams and two (2) groups of 4 teams and will play home and away games. The teams placed first in each group and the best second placed team from all of the groups will advance to the Promotion games. These teams will be ranked from 1st to 4th according to their record and will play 1st vs. 4th and 2nd vs 3rd. The two winners of the Promotion games (home and away) will be promoted to Division A. The teams ranked 1st and 2nd will play the return game at home. The Qualifying Round games will be played on 8th, 11th, 14th, 17th and 21st of August 2010. EuroBasket Women 2011 Division A Qualifying Round
The European teams participating in the FIBA World Championship For Women 2010 qualify directly for the Final Round of EuroBasket Women 2011: France, Russia, Spain, Belarus, Greece, Czech Republic and EuroBasket Women 2011 hosts Poland. EuroBasket Women 2011 Division B Qualifying Round The teams of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Estonia, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland will contest the Division B Qualifying Round. They will be divided into two (2) groups (A, B) of four (4) teams and will play home and away games. The teams placed first and second in each group will play the Promotion games (A1 vs. B2 and B1 vs. A2). The two winners of the Promotion games will be promoted to Division A. The Division B Qualifying Round games will be played on 7th, 11th and 15th of August 2010 and in August - September 2011 (exact dates to be confirmed later).
