Rūtenis Paulauskas is being lined up to become the new coach of Lithuania's women's side.
His predecessor at TEO Vilnius, Algirdas Paulauskas, who also served as the coach of Lithuania's women's national team, left TEO shortly before Christmas and Rūtenis Paulauskas took over the Vilnius club.
The process is underway for him to take the reins of the national side as well.
"At this moment, his candidature was approved by the Lithuania basketball coaches association (but it's only recommendation) because the executive committee (board) of Lithuania basketball federation must confirm it," said Mindaugas Skopas, the projects manager of the Lithuanian Basketball Federation to FIBA Europe.
"The board meeting will be on February 6."
Teo have had a great start under Rūtenis Paulauskas, winning in the EuroLeague Women on January 9 at Germano Zama Faenza.
This weekend, they brushed aside Arvi 65-49 in a top-of-the-table LMKL showdown with 18-year-old Gintarė Petronytė scoring 20 points.
They also defeated Lemminkainen 79-68 with Petronytė, a reserve national team center, pouring in 25 points.
