Yildizoğlu's Plan For Turkey Women

There is much more than meets the eye when looking at the success of the women's national team in Turkey.

The Turks won seven of eight games to finish top of Group B in EuroBasket Women qualifying and will play in the final round for a third straight time next year when the tournament is staged in Riga, Latvia.

Israel, Lithuania, Serbia and Hungary added their names to the nine team-roster qualified for EuroBasket 2009 in Latvia. Turkey, Poland, France, Slovakia and Greece had already secured their qualifications. The most exciting situation was between Ukraine and Hungary. Fegyverneky and her team-mates finally booked the last ticket, as the best third place team.

Resilient Germans Stay In The Hunt For Riga // 15 September 2008 Germany didn't qualify for the EuroBasket Women 2009 after winning just two of their eight games in Division A, but they fought their Group A opponents every inch of the way and at least earned a place in Additional Qualifying Round. Imre Szittya's team, who played in the Final Round in Italy last year and upset the 2005 champions Czech Republic in one of their games, suffered a 67-57 setback at home to Lithuania in their last qualifying game this summer.
