28 January 2010

K.V. Imperial AEL blew away Lattes Montpellier on Thursday night in the first leg of their EuroCup Women Eighth-Final tie.

Daliborka Vilipic dominated for the winners with 18 points and 10 rebounds as they romped to a 72-52 win in Limassol.

Trailing 10-5 midway through the opening quarter, the Cypriot team outscored the visitors from France 14-4 the rest of the frame.

That gave them a 19-14 advantage and the hosts gradually added to their lead in the second quarter to go to half-time on top, 35-27.

With Lattes Montpellier still within striking distance and behind 45-36 at the end of the third quarter, the home side outscored them 27-16 in the final quarter for a convincing win.

France's EuroBasket winner Pauline Krawczyk ended up with 13 points and six rebounds in defeat.

Ibiza Sport Island fell at home to Dynamo Moscow 70-63 but at least gave themselves a fighting chance of overturning the first-leg deficit next week in Russia.

The Spaniards were behind 52-37 heading into the last quarter but outscored the visitors 26-18.

Marina Kuzina, the Russia international, had 23 points for Dynamo while Krissy Bade poured in 21 in defeat.

There is all to play for in the clash between Botas Spor and USO Mondeville following the Turkish team's 76-67 first-leg triumph over the French.

USO Mondeville were looking at a huge blowout defeat when entering the final quarter trailing 64-41.

They rallied and ended up falling by just nine.

One of the big new stars in the game from America, Courtney Lynne Paris, had 22 points and 16 rebounds for Botas Spor.
