Ukrainian side Khimik Yuzhny got their EuroCup campaign off to a successful start with a 74-48 mauling of visitors BC Gala from Azerbaijan.
After a heartbreaking 86-87 loss in their opening contest against Russian outfit Ural Great Perm, Khimik made no mistake against BC Gala, cruising to victory after a close first half.
BC Gala managed to stay in contention for 20 minutes, trailing by 10 points at the half, 36-26.
However, their reliance on the three-point shot proved to be their undoing in the second half.
BC Gala shot just 6/30 from behind the arc and their unwillingness to take the ball to the basket was reflected by the fact that they attempted only two free throws in the entire game.
As a result, Khimik increased their advantage to 20 points in the third quarter and were not threatened for the rest of the contest.
Former Lithuania international Kestutis Sestokas led Khimik with 15 points in 18 minutes while Yaroslav Zubrytskyy added 10 points and 7 rebounds.
