Holmen Norrköping Upset BC Dnipro

Holmer Norrköping, which entered play on Thursday winless, beat previously unbeaten BC Dnipro 78-77.

The Swedish-based side prevailed thanks to a dominating first quarter in which they surged ahead to a 36-23 first quarter lead.

BC Dnipro got back to within nine at halftime and tied the contest at 54 in the third quarter, but they never could get over the hump and take the lead.

After Dnipro tied the game, Andrew Pleick hit a three to get the momentum back to Norrköping.

Later, Derek Stribbling scored four straight points for the eventual victors in the fourth quarter to allow them to take a 77-70 lead with 6:54 to go.

From there, Holmer Norrköping hung on despite a last attempt comeback from Dnipro.

Dnipro had the  ball for a potential last possession, trailing 78-77.

Volodymyr Koval missed a lay-up and Pleik came up with the rebound to secure  Norrköping first’s win of the EuroCup Challenge.

”This was our best game of the season. I’m very proud over my team. Our zone- defence worked well and everyone gave their best”, said Kelly Grant, head coach of Holmen Norrkoping.

”It was a tough game that we lost in the first half,” said Dnipro head coach Yukhym Taslyts.

“Our rebounding wasn’t good today.”

”We can’t win a game when we let our opponents score 36 points in one quarter," added BC Dnipro's Donatas Zavackas, who scored a agme-high 25 points.

Holmen Norrkoping was led by Stribbling’s 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Pleick scored 18.
