Greek national team star Nikolaos Zisis of Benetton Basket will receive the 2005 FIBA Europe Young Player of the Year trophy on Tuesday, May 23rd in Treviso, Italy.
FIBA Europe Secretary General Nar Zanolin will present Zisis with the custom-designed trophy moments before Benetton tips off against Armani J. Milano in the Italian league play-offs.
Zisis, at just the age of 22, helped Greece to the 2005 EuroBasket title by averaging a team-best 10.6 ppg.
He delivered in the clutch, scoring 23 points in an elimination game win over Israel, 11 in the semi-finals against France and 13 in Greece’s gold medal game victory over Germany.
As a result of his play, Zisis won the inaugural award based on a vote from international media.
