Hungarian international Dalma Ivanyi of MiZo-Pecs has been given many awards over her illustrious career. But never has she been honoured by the government.

That is until this morning, when the President of the Hungarian Parliament, Dr. Katalin Szili, presented Ivanyi with a gold coin to recognise the point guard for her contributions to basketball in Hungary both at the national and club level.

"I was really surprised," Ivanyi said shortly after being presented with the coin.

"I didn't know this would happen, so it's a very good feeling."

Although just 29 years old, Ivanyi has been the standard bearer for Hungarian women's hoops for the past 10 years with both Pecs and the national team. But despite her many achievements in the game, including two EuroLeague Women Final Four appearances with Pecs, she takes nothing for granted. 

"I have given a lot to basketball, but I have gotten even more from it."

An additional honour for Ivanyi is her selection to the EuroLeague Women All-Star Game.

"It's special to get this honour in front of all these great players. We fight hard against each other on the court, but we really admire each other. It's very nice to be here with these players and see them woman to woman."
