Bourges Basket’s Anete Jekabsone will be presented with the FIBA Europe 2005 Young Women’s Player of the Year trophy during her team’s match-up against Valenciennes in the French Women’s Cup final this Sunday in Paris.

FIBA Europe Secretary General Nar Zanolin will present Jekabsone with the custom-designed trophy at halftime of the game.

The Latvian native collected 92 votes from the international media selection for the award, 25 votes more than the second-place recipient.

In 2005, Jekabsone averaged 19.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4 assists and 2.8 steals per contest for Latvia at EuroBasket Women. She led Bourges in scoring with 13.5 a game in the EuroLeague Women.
