BASKETBALL IN EUROPE

Bozidar Maljkovic will lead Slovenia when they host next year's EuroBasket but before then, the great coach will steer Cedevita Zagreb in many a hard game in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague.
The coming season will mark the Croatian club's first-ever campaign in the elite continental competition.
"We have reached an agreement with a reputable, professional, experienced coach who has led big club, creating great teams and players," said Cedevita Zagreb president Mladen Veber.
"He is a coach who has a large number of trophies behind him and therefore I am very pleased."
Maljkovic has won Euroleague titles with Jugoplastika Split, Limoges and Panathinaikos.
He is just one of five coaches to have captured the Euroleague title at least four times.
The Serbian tactician says he is eager to take up the challenge of coaching Cedevita.
"I'll be brutally honest and say thatwhen we sat at the table, I saw a serious and major desire of the head of the club to make a very serious European project," the 60-year-old said.
"The people who run the club are very genuine and persistent in their efforts to raise the club to the next level and I am attracted to this.
"I am a coach who loves challenges. I've been in such situations many times, from Limoges, Unicaja (Malaga) or Jugoplastika.
"Before us there is a new challenge, a lot of work and I am sincerely looking forward to it."
Maljkovic will this summer lead Slovenia in friendly games before taking up his new club post.
