Four European countries have advanced to the quarter-finals of the Goldcup Wheelchair Basketball World Championships in the Netherlands.

The Netherlands and Italy finished second and third respectively out of six teams in Group A preliminary round play, while Great Britain and Sweden finished third and fourth in Group B.

The quarter-final match-ups, which take place later today, are USA vs. Japan, Australia vs. Italy, Canada vs. Sweden and Netherlands vs. Great Britain.

On the women's side, Germany defeated Mexico 70-20 in the quarter-finals to advance on to the semi-final phase which begins on Thursday.

Up next for the Germans is Canada, which is one of two undefeated teams along with the United States.

In the other semi-final, the United States will take on Australia.
