EuroLeague Women juggernauts UMMC Ekaterinburg and Sparta&K M.R. Vidnoje are on course for a Russian title showdown with both sides winning the opening games of their play-off semi-final ties.
The two outfits played at the EuroLeague Women Final Eight and are now attempting to finish the season on a high, with UMMC taking a 1-0 lead against Nadezhda Orenburg and Sparta&K doing the same against Dynamo Kursk.
Candace Parker and Sandrine Gruda provided a mean one-two punch for UMMC as they won their opener, 96-73.
Parker poured in 26 points and Gruda contributed 25, and UMMC also dominated the boards, out-rebounding Nadezhda, 43-19.
Sparta&K claimed an 87-79 victory over EuroCup Women winners Dynamo Kursk.
Candace Dupree posted a double-double of 24 points and 12 rebounds and Seimone Augustus added 14 points for the winners.
Anna Petrakova meanwhile was sensational for the EuroCup Women winners, with 28 points and 12 rebounds in the losing effort.
